I’ve been seeing a specific number for almost a year now, and I keep asking God what it means.
I believe God is calling me – God is calling us to a greater level of faith in Him.
Chapter 11 of Hebrews is called by some the Hall of Faith and here’s why.
Starting at verse four it begins…
By faith Abel (11:4)
By faith Enoch (11:5)
By faith Noah (11:7)
By faith Abraham (11:8, 11:17)
By faith Sarah (11:11)
By faith Isaac (11:20)
By faith Jacob (11:21)
By faith Joseph (11:22)
By faith Moses (11:23-24, 27)
By faith the people (11:29)
By faith the walls of Jericho fell (11:30)
By faith Rahab (11:31)
And then it goes on to say that there were so many others the Bible doesn’t have time to talk about all of them.
So, we hear about all these great men and women of faith, and I believe some of us get what’s been called the “Imposter Syndrome.”
Honestly, it’s nothing more than self-doubt.
James asks us not to be double-minded…
Look at James 1:6-8 NASB.
6But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Remember this…
Hebrews 11:6 BSB says,
6And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
Some may say I know God exists. I believe He’s the only one.
Well, James 2:19 ESV says,
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
So, let’s not miss the second part of that verse. Let’s read it again.
6And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists AND that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
Are you earnestly seeking Him?
We need to ask Jesus what the apostles asked Jim.
Jesus was talking to them about someone sinning against them 7 times a day, and if that person repented 7 times they were to forgive.
Their response is found in…
Luke 17:5 NASB 1995
And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Here’s a question.
Do you consider the One that made the promise to you faithful?
I do!
Then where’s your name in the Hall of Faith? Add it to the list… By faith _________. Then write what God has said to you in the secret place.
Ask Him, like the Apostles did, to increase your faith.
Stop living in your own strength. Run into his outstretched arms and hide under the shadow of His wings.
Increased faith in God, now that’s the point of purpose. See you next time.
