Fully Embrace Your Identity 3 | God’s Love Is…

A few days ago, I came across this statement from 365Promises.com, which is a daily email devotional. Here’s what it said:

“When God looks at you, He doesn’t see a servant…He sees a son or daughter. When Jesus Christ exchanged His life for our life, something miraculous happened in the heavens. He opened up the way for us to be born into His amazing family.”

That’s exactly what we talked about last week, we are no longer slaves because we have made children of God—His heirs.

It’s that awesome. If you’d like to subscribe to 365Promises daily devotional, I’ll leave a link in the description box.

Today, we’re going to read from Ephesians 3:16-21 NASB… In these Scriptures, Paul is praying for the church at Ephesus, and he says,

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Look at verses 19 and 20.

19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

The Mirror Bible says has a beautiful translation of that verse.

“I desire for you to become intimately acquainted with the love of Christ on the deepest possible level: far beyond the reach of a mere academic, intellectual grasp. Within the scope of this equation God finds the ultimate expression of Himself in you. We celebrate Him who supercharges us powerfully from with. Our biggest request or most amazing dream cannot match the extravagant proportion of His thoughts towards us.”

In fully embracing your identity, think about all of the things that God’s love is toward you:

God’s love is…

  • Incredible
  • Infinite
  • Unfailing
  • Personal
  • Accepting
  • Is a shield around you
  • Is sacrifice
  • Helps you change and grow
  • Inspires you to love others
  • It never wavers
  • Cannot fail
  • And so much more…

Be filled with God’s love.

Have you ever gotten a glimpse of how much God loves you and been brought to tears?

This week, meditate on Ephesians 3:19-20 and accept ALL of God’s love. And if you’re so inclined, do a word search on God’s love and find out ALL of the ways He loves you.

Experiencing and sharing God’s love, now, that’s the point of purpose…see you next time for part 4.
