Stop Striving Start Thriving

I have a question for you. Has God been trying to reteach you something lately? Today, we’re going to talk about STOP STRIVING & START THRIVING!

He tells us in His Word to …

  • To seek Him first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…and all other things will be added (Matt. 6:33)
  • Keep the sabbath day holy and rest (Exo. 20:8-11)
  • Cease striving and know that He is God (Ps. 46:10)

But do we consistently do these things?

Do we seek His kingdom first or are we asking other people opinions or the Internet first?

Are we resting on the sabbath? Or do we think we have to get our hustle or grind on? When did you see Jesus hustling and grinding?

Here’s a reality check from the Word in Luke 6:45 ESV.

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?

If you work on the sabbath because of your job, Jesus knows. He even worked on the sabbath a few times.

I remember having this huge project that seemed like there was no end to it. And there was a part of it I wasn’t sure how to do it. I was praying and God said to me that if I’d rest the next day that He would give me the answer.

I agreed–still wondering how I was going to get it all done. So, I rested and when Monday rolled around, I came across a website that I didn’t even know existed. That one website had all the answers that I needed in one place.

And to put that in perspective, I was looking for a minimum 50-60 references. Do you know what I would have had to do to get those references?

But God!!!

So, back to the question. Has He been trying to reteach you anything lately? For me, the answer is, yes.

I had a huge project coming up, but I was unable to work on it for any length of time, and I was getting a little concerned.

I started talking to the Lord and basically, He assured me that I could get it done. I was thinking to myself how. In the past, I knew what it took to complete this type of projects.

I had to rely on the Lord, not my strength because I didn’t have it to give. For about 30 minutes a day minus the sabbath, I worked on this project. When I finished, I could hardly believe that I completed it with such grace and ease, and it was amazing.

The Word saying in Psalm 46:10 NASB

10 “Stop striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.”

What would have generally taken me full days’ of work over the course of a  month or so only took me about 30 minutes a day in less than a month.

Here’s how it happened. I would be doing something else, and God would give me an idea, or I’d wake up with an idea. Previously, I would sit and think and think. This time it was almost effortless, and it was certainly a lot more fun.

Then I got it. I believe He had been showing me that there’s a different pace, a different rhythm of life that He wants me to take on.

Don’t get me wrong. God was always with me throughout other projects. I believe He just wanted me to see an even better way.

Here’s what I had been hearing and not understanding until this happened.

Slow down to speed up.

In other words, stop striving. Seek Me first, let me help you, rest in Me.

Until next time, thriving not striving in Jesus, that’s the point of purpose.
