Many of us hear this saying often. “Words create worlds.” Certainly, God used words to create our world.
To say it another way, THE WORD created our world.
There’s a Scripture that I’m sure most of us can quote.
Proverbs 18:21 ESV
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
We can quote it, but I’m not sure how seriously we take this.
I’ve encountered Christians who say things like, “It’s not that serious.
It’s not that serious!?
I wonder some of us don’t care how we live our lives, or could it be that some of us are not so concerned because we can’t see how our words are affecting us?
Someone said to me, “I’m not using that positive thinking!”
Positive thinking?
Proverbs 23:7a NASB says,
For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
We know this, of course, but do we really know that what we think will eventually come out of our mouths.
What world have you created with your words?
We need to go back repent for many of the things we said, bind those words and loose God’s Word about the situation.
Remember you have what you say. Mark 11:23
Consider doing this. Go through this day and pay close attention to your words—even the things you joke about.
Watch out for unconscious speech. For example:
- I’ve had to fight for everything we’ve got. That’s why you’re still fighting.
- I just don’t have enough money. By saying that you’re ensuring that you won’t have enough.
Instead say what God says.
What are you speaking over…
Your finances
Your health
Your children
Your spouse
Your relationships
Your friends
Your family
Your business
Your career
Your retirement
Your singleness
Your situation
Yourself
Again, ask yourself, “What does the Word say about it?”
Correct your speech where you need to.
We are like our Father, and He’s the Creator. We’re creating death or life every day with what we say.
Exercising our power to speak the Word, now that’s the point of purpose. See you next time.
